Cinemas around Colne

Roy Jowett Ltd

42-44 Albert Rd, Colne BB8 0AD, UK – 01282 863823

I bought a projector and screen from here a few months ago. Great service on the day in terms of providing a really extended demo before purchase. When the screen arrived it did unfortunately have a mark on the frame. They were excellent in supporting the resolution of this with the manufacturer. I'd like to make particular mention of Liam who was a credit to the store throughout.

very good service ,good range of products very happy with my hi-fi and speaker system and have also bought a television from roy jowetts.

Pendle Hippodrome Theatre

New Market St, Colne BB8 9BJ, UK – 01282 863210

I attended The Pendle Hippodrome Theatre in Colne when it hosted The British Stage at The Great British R&B Festival. I have been going to this festival for a number of years. This year was the first year the theatre has been part of the festival. Hopefully it won't be the last. The staff, all unpaid volunteers were magnificent, I can't praise them highly enough. Nothing was too much trouble. The theatre itself is the old style variety theatre which gives a splendid atmosphere. It may be old but it boasts a modern sound and lighting system. I am friendly with a number of artists who performed at the festival and they all said what a marvelous venue it is to play. I look forward to returning to the Hippodrome on my next visit to Colne.

Nice theatre a lot bigger than it looks from the outside

The Muni Theatre

Albert Road, Colne BB8 0AE, UK – 01282 661234

Attended the annual Pendle beer festival very well organised, good selection of beers music a bit loud but good during the day.

A great place for a show, I've been here for a few including Barry and Stuart as well as for The Great British R&B Festival. Always a great local atmosphere.

The Little Theatre

1 River St, Colne BB8 0DQ, UK – 01282 861424

This is a fantastic place, and a not to be missed experience, if you are in Colne when they have a play on. Basically, this building is a little theatre. It has a sloped floor, running down to a small stage. There are 7 rows of ten seats, and five at the back, so it seats 75. Inside it is is just like a large theatre in terms of decor, there are lit alcoves running down the walls etc. It really is unique, as far as I know. The local amateur dramatic company stage 3, or 4 plays a year, ranging from hard hitting dramas, to comedy. I have seen several plays there, including "Educating Rita", and Alan Bennett's "Lady in The Van". Recently they put on a performance of a play about Ruth Ellis, the last women to be hanged in Britain. The standard of acting, and directing is just as good as one might see at a conventional theatre, and because you are so close to the actors, there is an intimacy that would be impossible in larger theatres. It really is quite an experience, the actors are all local people, and they are a very varied company, who can call on young people starting out on their acting "careers", and old hands who have been involved in acting for many years. The standard is really very high for a small company, and a Little Theatre. Don't miss it.

Played a gig there as part of the Colne Festival. Great place small but very friendly and helpfull staff
